Our Story

The story of Harry’s Guest House is one of friendship and belonging.

When Julian opened Harry’s Fine Foods in 2016, it didn’t take long for him to meet the neighbor, Winnie.

Winnie is the beautiful and eccentric woman who lived at 312 E Mercer for 20+ years. She is an artist, a bon vivant, and always seemed to have a hot take or unfiltered thought for Julian when she saw him coming and going from Harry’s Fine Foods.

She dined with us, laughed with us, and ultimately became a symbol of community that made the corner of E Mercer and Bellevue Ave just a little bit sweeter.

When Winnie moved in 2022, Julian and his partner Jake purchased her home with plans to preserve the beautiful building and uphold Winnie’s legacy of warmth and welcome in the neighborhood. Thus, the idea for Harry’s Guest House was born.

We hope that any one who passes through these doors feels instantly at home. We hope that friends gather here to make memories and a bit of a ruckus. We hope that it is a place where one goes to fall in love with the neighborhood, Seattle, and the Pacific Northwest at large.

We hope to host you soon, and we can’t wait to welcome you home.
